Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+), also known as Coenzyme I, is one of the most essential coenzymes in the human body. It is widely distributed in skin cells, but its levels decline with cellular aging. Mitochondria, the cell's energy powerhouse, rely on the TCA cycle and the electron transport chain to produce ATP, processes that are critically dependent on NAD+. Aging slows energy metabolism, halts the cell cycle, and impairs function.
